DR. Nicola Kimm

Member of the Managing Board and Chief Sustainability Officer, HeidelbergCement

Dr. Nicola Kimm is Management Board member and Chief Sustainability Officer at HeidelbergCement, where she leads an organization covering ESG, Global Research & Development, Technologies & Partnerships and Innovation. She is driving the company’s path to sustainable construction and carbon neutrality. Nicola is also a non-executive board member at the investment company EQT AB and has previously held executive roles at Philips, Signify, CSM and BASF in Europe, Asia and North America. Her experience spans engineering, operations, EHS and communications in the electronics, chemicals, and food industries. She holds a PhD in Economics and Business Engineering, MSc and BSc degrees in Chemical Engineering and a BSc in Ecology.

Richard Grimmett

Director for Conservation, BirdLife International

As Director for Conservation, Mr Grimmett is responsible for the development and coordination of conservation programmes for sites and species, with a particular focus on ‘Preventing Extinctions’, ‘‘Seabirds and Marine’, ‘Migratory Birds and Flyways’, ‘Invasive Species’ and ‘Forests’. As well as being a member of the BirdLife senior management team, he oversees BirdLife’s work in Asia and the Pacific as well as with the private sector including the partnership with HeidelbergCement. Mr Grimmett was previously Head of the BirdLife Asia Division (1994 – 2007), and Head of the BirdLife European Division (prior to 1994) when he co-authored the first complete inventory of European Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) in 1989. He incidentally lives close to the Hanson-HeidelbergCement quarry at Needingworth, on the outskirts of Cambridge, UK.

Herr Grimmett ist seit der Ausgabe 2014 als Mitglied der Internationalen Jury tätig.

DR. Carolin Juwel

Global Biodiversity and Natural Resources Senior Manager, HeidelbergCement

DR. Carolyn Jewell hat einen Doktortitel in Ökologie von der University of York und einen Master in Wildlife Management and Conservation von der Reading University. Ihre akademische Arbeit konzentrierte sich auf Insekten und ihre Reaktionen auf den Klimawandel und Habitatmanagementregime. 

Carolyn hat Erfahrung in Partnerschaftsprojekten zwischen der Rohstoffindustrie und Naturschutzorganisationen und begann 2016 bei HeidelbergCement in der Abteilung Environmental Social Governance zu arbeiten. Sie unterstützt das Unternehmen bei der Umsetzung seiner Verpflichtungen zur Biodiversität und vertritt HeidelbergCement in verschiedenen Geschäfts- und Biodiversitätsinitiativen, Branchenverbänden und Veranstaltungen zur ökologischen Sanierung.

Nachdem Dr. Carolyn Jewell sowohl 2012 als auch 2014 Mitglied der Nationalen Jury für den britischen Wettbewerb war, trat sie während der 3. Ausgabe 2016 zum ersten Mal der Internationalen Jury bei.

Prof.. DR. Michael Radmacher

Professor für Ökologie und Biodiversität terrestrischer und aquatischer Systeme / Leiter des Masterstudiengangs Environmental Sustainability,  Hochschule Bingen (Deutschland)

Prof.. DR. Rademacher bringt 25 Jahre Erfahrung im Biodiversitätsmanagement in Bergbaustandorten mit, von der Kartierung und Überwachung bis hin zur Standortsanierung und öffentlich-privaten Partnerschaften. Er ist promovierter Ökologe und Spezialist für Pflanzen, Vögel, Heuschrecken, Libellen, Amphibien und Schmetterlinge.

Prof.. DR. Rademacher war der Initiator des Quarry Life Award-Wettbewerbs und war von Anfang an Mitglied der Internationalen Jury.

DR. Klara Řehounková

Vorstandsmitglied, Society for Ecological Restoration ( SER Europe )

HeidelbergCement freut sich, die Richterin Klára Řehounková zum zweiten Mal in der internationalen Jury der vierten Ausgabe des Quarry Life Award begrüßen zu dürfen. Als Mitglied der Arbeitsgruppe „Restaurierungsökologie“ an der Südböhmischen Universität konzentriert sich Klára Rehounková auf die Erforschung der Vegetationssukzession in verschiedenen gestörten oder degradierten Standorten, insbesondere in nachbergbaulichen Standorten. Darüber hinaus ist sie Vorstandsmitglied von SER Europe (Director at large).

Klára war Teamleiterin des mit dem Hauptpreis ausgezeichneten Projekts der Ausgabe des Quarry Life Award 2012.
